Mrs. Vietnam Florida Pageant 2013

Congrats to Mrs. Dao Thi Le on winning the title Mrs. Vietnam Florida 2013! This pageant is held for the Vietnamese mothers and women of Florida to show their elegance, beauty and grace. They embody the meaning of a true Vietnamese woman. The event took place at the central Florida fairgrounds at 12pm. Thanks to Kim Thanh Jewelers for putting together a great program and congratulations to the new Queen and Royal Court!

Today’s Vietnamese Tea Ceremony

The Vietnamese Tea Ceremony is an event performed on the day of marriage in the Vietnamese culture. The information and images serve to inform and show how such an event occurs in today’s modern society. The photos below are from Caroline and Alex’s formal tea ceremony.

As you can see they replaced the traditional red colors with fuchsia for the gift covers and also the bride’s ao dai. The groom also was wearing a dark teal color versus the traditional gold or blue. If you want to know more about the traditions you can read about it on wikipedia.

Vietnamese Lunar New Year 2013

Every year thousands of people gather together at the Central Florida Fairgrounds for the annual Vietnamese Lunar New Year. The event is hosted by the Vietnamese Community of Central Florida or Cong Dong Viet Nam Trung Tam Florida.

For 17 years the community has continued its traditions of lion dances, ancestor ceremony, ribbon cutting ceremony, martial arts demonstration, cultural dances and performances. The festival held two prestigious pageants, The Mrs. Vietnam Florida Pageant (Hau Hoa Phu Nhan) and the Miss Vietnam Florida Pageant, gala concert, and much more.

Authentic Vietnamese cuisine was served hawkers style on both days of the festival from the three regions of Vietnam. There were plenty of fine and specialty food, drinks, and snacks for all ages. Be sure to come out next year for the great cultural experience!
